End-of-Life Cycle Policy

Kubu Smart Security is continually innovating and updating product ranges. As a result of this continuous innovation, products which have been in the market for some time may be updated or completely superseded with new products or variants of the same. We may discontinue the sale of certain products when they reach the end of their market lifecycle.

To this end, Kubu Smart Security has built into its new product development process that any new features and solutions planned by our designers must consider the effect on the lifecycle of those products, features or solutions.

Kubu Smart Security will also give consideration to the various elements that make up particular products, features and solutions, since their individual life cycles may not be fully aligned. E.g., software apps are more likely to have a shorter anticipated life cycle than the hardware they serve.

To assist our customers and end users of our products in the transition to the next generation versions or upgrades, Kubu Smart Security operates an ‘End-of-Lifecycle’ Policy as written in the guidelines below.

1. Notice of End-of-Life

1.1 Kubu Smart Security will provide 6 months’ notice of any changes to product, features and solution’s end-of-sale date as well as the last day when the affected product, feature or solution can be ordered or will be supported. This notice will appear on the Kubu Smart Security website.

1.2 Access to support for Kubu Smart Security customers via the support address will be for a period of 4 years from the end-of-sale date for hardware, operating system software issues and application software issues.

2. Spare or Replacement Parts.

2.1 Spares or replacement parts for hardware will be available for a period of 4 years from the end-of-sale date. We will provide spares and replacement parts in accordance with our Returns process.

2.2 Where exact like-for-like replacements cannot be supplied, Kubu Smart Security will provide an alternative product of equal performance and value.

3. Software Support

3.1 Kubu Smart Security will provide Software support will be as follows:

For the 2 years following the end-of-sale date, we will provide bug fixes, maintenance releases, workarounds, or patches for critical bugs reported via the customer service and support team.

After the first 2 years we will provide bug fixes, maintenance releases, workarounds or patches for critical updates only for a period of 2 years for the relevant apps. Alternatively it may be necessary to use software upgrade release to correct a reported problem.

4. Changes to Kubu Smart Security End-of-Life Policy

4.1 The terms set forth in this End-of-Life Policy may also be modified by the specific terms and conditions contained in any applicable warranty, End-of-Life notification, or other binding agreements between the parties specifically related to the subject matter herein.

4.2 Although every effort will be made to support End-of-Life products in accordance with our End-of-Life Cycle Policy, Kubu Smart Security reserves the right to change its Policy as it deems appropriate. Any changes to the End-of-Life Cycle Policy will be announced through the Kubu Smart Security website.

5. Glossary of terms

Here is an explanation of some of the terms that we have used in this notice:

End of Product Life Cycle: A process that guides the final business operations associated with the product life cycle. The end-of-life process consists of a series of technical and business milestones and activities that, once completed, make a product obsolete. Once obsolete, the product is not sold, manufactured,improved, repaired, maintained, or supported.

End-of-sale date: The last date to order the product through Kubu Smart Security Partner point-of-sale mechanisms. The product is no longer for sale.

Hardware: The physical product and its physical components.

Applications/ Software: The applications/Software that runs on Kubu Smart Security hardware.Software Maintenance support: The time period that Kubu Smart Security may release any software maintenance releases or bug fixes to the software product. After this date, Kubu Smart Security will no longer develop, repair, maintain, or test the product software.
